When I do a whois search for a few domain names that I am interested in I get this:

Created On:17-Jan-2004 23:10:05 UTCLast
Updated On:01-Feb-2005 08:28:39 UTC
Expiration Date:17-Jan-2006 23:10:05 UTC
Sponsoring Registrar:R140-LRMS
Status:HOLD
Status:PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE
Status:OK

Here is the question: If the domain status is PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE why is it that the domain expires on 17-Jan-2006? What would happen if I were to backorder a domain like this? Why are there 3 different statuses for this entry? Pool.com says that deletion date is 2005-03-08. Who is accurate here and do I have a chance of getting this domain sometime soon (if backordered)? (This is very confusing) Also what are the range of values for random 3 letter .infos?

Sorry for all the questions but I am really confused here D-:

3 letter INFOs = low $xx to high $xxx depending on the letters. Backorder doesn't mean you'll get it. I prefer where you pay $50 but you are guaranted to get the domain instead of a $20 deal with just 1 chance out of many more.

What Pool says is probably right. The three dropcatchers Pool, Snapnames and eNom have all the search tools you need to verify the date of any drop. No need to confuse yourself by trying to decipher cryptic whois in this time and age.

Thanks for the response everyone. What I still don't understand is how a domain name can have 3 statuses listed in the whois:
Status:HOLD
Status:PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE
Status:OK
vip-ip I totally understand that backordering does not guarantee success.
So it's a safe bet to trust pool.com's expiration date for this domain?
