Initial cost to start a decent website

I've been intending to develop a website or two for a while now, I do logo design in my free time and I am also a BSCS student...most of the developers I know have told me to let go of the idea and stick to graphics, but at times I just hate being bossed around or dealing with requests.
Is making another arcade or media site a good idea since most of them look like crap IMO and whats the cheapest way to do it?

I wouldn't even attempt to do one if i was you...so many people are doing these right now.
Also, i know what you mean, taking requests in Graphic Designs, gets kinda boring after a while.

You should really try to think a unique, or rare idea, and develop that.

What should I try then? most developers are farming mySpace sites, videos and forums, but I don't feel like doing those...
I just want something to start with

Go to digg.com or stumbleupon.com and see if you find some interesting sites.
That should give you idea or two
