you can use blogging, write articles about your software such as benefits they can give to the users, advantages, etc... i think this could attract audience.

- Start a forum for people that you the kind of software you offer. Help those that use products by your competitors. People will like you and remember you for helping them, and you will learn what problems to avoid in your own products. Get all your employees involved and require them to spend at least 15- 30 minutes of their workday on the forums.

Most non-profits have people that work at regular companies and this will get your name out in from of larger companies that buy products like yours. Also, consider offering them as shareware with e.g. 30-day Free trial. That could fit well on e.g. Download.com (CNET), HotScripts, etc.

There are countless ways of promotion....you could provide a lite version and let people download it from download repositories...download.com or others...you could also provide full featured version for 3-4 months and issue a free license key by asking users to register with their email id (for follow up emails)..you can also tie up with computer magazines online n offline to include your software or publish a review..

In my opinion, based on the nature of software you intend to market, a unique approach must necessarily apply aside from the general internet marketing strategies because your target market is limited but already highly determinable. Demo version software is also a good alternative aside from free trial versions.

To do this you will have to target strategic partners and cultivate their interest in incorporating the software in their business. then referral and testimonials can sell the software down the road.

so, go find the people near you who can accept the negotiation phase and level up with training to use it and then try an implementation and test period where they can give you feedback.Measure results and get testimonials.

then put the videos describing all this on Youtube where potential customers for the software can learn pain free. Then follow up any comments on youtube with sales calls.
