Ideas for PRO.ph development

I recently acquired www.PRO.ph .

.ph being my home country's tld, I'm thinking of developing this one into my own little tld. Real .ph domains currently cost $35 per year (for plain .ph as well as com.ph domains), so maybe I can build a case for charging a minimal fee of, say, $2 per year, with a 10-year minimum. I imagine sites like:

Design.pro.ph
Models.pro.ph
Doctors.pro.ph
Lawyers.pro.ph
Advertising.pro.ph

Worth the effort, you think?

Anyone know where I can read more about DNS techniques that can let me fully delegate 3rd level domains like the ones above?

Thanks for the feedback, folks!

Great workable idea... actually you can do on your country level what .PRO registry is doing on global level. You can also add these:

cpa.pro.ph (for Certified Public Accountant)
cia.pro.ph (for Certified Internal Auditor)
ca.pro.ph (for Chartered Accountants)
engineer.pro.ph (for Engineers) etc. etc.

Just start it... contact 'Associations of professionals or 'Professional bodies and offer them solutions directly... I really love this idea... goodluck..

Thanks, sheik. It would be too much to expect users to use fourth level domains like :

bautista.engineer.pro.ph
smith.ca.pro.ph

What would make sense is to open up the third level namespace, and have no restrictions so as to make the namespace more widely applicable. It will then be a matter of marketing the 'tld' as a viable alternative for those seeking to project a professional online image in my country.

But isn't to some extent the same case with .Pro where so many 'Third Level' names are restricted?? Like following names can not be registered at .Pro:
cpa.cpa.pro
ca.cpa.pro
aca.cpa.pro
law.law.pro

Additionally, one can't register any country name also... like 'uk.cpa.pro'. Due to this limitation I don't see .Pro expanding much in near future. Having said all this, I mean that "Pro.ph" may be a success story if done with due planning and perfection...

If I open my namespace at the 3rd level, then it could be marketed locally as being equivalent to the real 3rd level .pro domains. People can register anything they want, and it will be tons cheaper.

My research into this idea is promising. I even found this GPL software that can be used for pro.ph - www.powerdns.com . This is the same software that powered the .tk tld.

I vaguely remember some discussions about regulating the .ph TLD so you might want to accelerate those plans ;)

Thanks for the concern, aww. There *was* talk last year of revoking the current .ph franchise holder. It didn't happen, but the registrar ended up having a government office with 'oversight' functions. From what I see, that gov office is just shuffling papers and not really doing anything as far as their oversight function is concerned.

I think this could work, but only as far as .ph pro's go -- in other words, it has a potential reach, but only within the country. If it makes you feel better registering a pro.ph name makes more sense than registering one of those web.com names they sell...
