Smurf, Can you elaborate on the copyright of the icons?

So many different sites have buddy icon's on them there is no possible way to copyright them. I have ran 3 buddy icon sites and no one has every complained of copyright laws on a buddy icon and they can't really prove that they made a simple 50x50 image unless they have the copyright on the image and there name on it.
