www.homegardening.us

I just put this site online and will build more content and backlinks, so that the site will rank good with "gardening tips" and (gardening how to videos) .

My goal is that the site ranks good and generates leads ("free stuff" section) so that I can sell to a gardening company.

Would really appreciate a honest appraisal & estimated value? :)

I might be a little biased because I'm a gardener and hobby farmer but it's nice. It's very simple and is clean. Junk does not get in the way of what message you are trying to get across. One exception to that is the woman who shows up on the side and starts talking. It's not something I would expect. Generally speaking, users want to have control over their screens, especially in a public setting.

Is the free stuff PLR content? I really like the idea of sending promos and discounts to people. How often do you send those?

I think the domain itself is hardly worth anything without the content or leads. Home gardening is usually assumed, if not it is stated like "community garden." Obviously .com would be preferred. The "content" will probably be devalued by anyone interested in buying because they are just Youtube videos, with little reflection on them.

All of the comments though could be an asset if they're proven to be real. How did you acquire that much discussion? That's pretty good!

Let me know if that helps.

hmmmm very helpful review, thanx a lot!

honestly this site is more or less an experiment where I try out a lot of things...(so the content + discussion are for example streamed from youtube directly, fyi)

really you think homegardening.us is not such a good domain?
well, I am in domain business only since a few weeks, but I definitely learned that everything outside of .com gets bashed .... haha :)

Do you think if I would put the site on flippa without further development for 2k that it would sell?

In any case the review helped me much, thank you!

It's not a matter of getting bashed per se, it's just that there are not enough high quality, sustainable sales to suggest that much outside of .com is a viable investment. The rule of thumb usually, is if you are going to do two words like that - descriptive in nature - it should be in .com. You get to a point where most of anything past three is worthless (always exceptions) and anything past three in other extensions is likely to be as well. With the bashed ones (.info, .us, .co, etc.) try to only stick to one word.

If you put it on Flippa, that changes things because a great site with great leads and great income is better than just a domain name for many. However the site only contains Youtube videos and comments from Youtube. Some might argue that that is turnkey and not likely to be sustainable.

I'm working on a gardening site right now actually. You are right to not load it up with Adsense and banners. My experience suggests that this market is very good at avoiding that junk and is more interested in genuine learning. That said, selling leads is a great way to make money. My other advice is that this market is fairly intelligent when things are fibbed. They're looking for real gardeners and real advice. Most will be able to tell the difference.
