Having blog problems

I just started a blog and my entries are already getting hit with what I think is called "comment spam". Anyways, as soon as I post something, I get these comments foir casinos, porn, you name it. I don't want to block out people from commenting, but is there any remedy for this?

Also, can anyone tell me in layman terms what a traceback is?

about the commenting spam, depending on what blog software you are using, you can ban certain words, and even the ability to post links on the message, if you block that ability it will totally get rid of the spam

that sounds vaguely like automaticaly logging the IP addresses of commenters and blocking the IPs of those you don't want to comment..

Check the options above - if that doesn't work then I might recomemnd a change in blog software.

go to blogger.com and get a blog..but host it yourself(they can help you with that)
