It's good to hear that you got it for you to develop. I'm unsure of the resale value of a fan site. The only people willing to buy would be other fans. But to start from the ground up and making it a site that you enjoy (and therefore enjoyable to other Green Day fans) is the best attitude to have.

After the site is up look into Google Adsense and also become an Amazon Affiliate partner.

I actually get good traffic & money off rockband fan sites, heaps of affiliate programs. fans are loyal traffic. I get 30,000uniques/mth off a band thats not as popular as greenday.

amazon sucks for band sites, try ringtones particular to that band
