Google's new tasting policy

I am sure that almost everyone on here knows about Google's new policy to not pay any money on domain names that have been tasted. I was wondering if anyone has any more information about this. In particular, how many times does a name have to be tasted before Google will stop paying for ads on it? If I am considering registering a name and find that it has been tasted once, does that mean that the name is no longer good for parking and I should just pass? What if it has been tasted twice? Also, does Google refuse to pay for ads on that name forever or only for a certain amount of time after the name was refunded?

Do people on here think that it is really bad for the industry that Google has this policy now, but tasting is still allowed, meaning the more names that the tasters go through, the less available names will be able to be parked, or does there policy only affect names that are being kited and once it is registered for real has no affect whatsoever?

It would make sense if this boycott was taken away after the domains were registered for more than 5 days. If the domain drops then google can start again, but once the name is taken for longer than 5 days the boycott should stop, thats how I would do it if I were google anyhow

I agree completely, it would be nice if anyone knows for sure, it would certainly save the non-kiting domainer some money.

Domain tasting refer to domain registered for less than 5 days then deleted. But if you have register a domain and keep it for more than 5 days, then google will not boycott that domain. Meaning, google will not only pay for advertisement in a domain that have less then 5 day life span.

Are you saying that Google is only not paying for those names during the first 5 days. If I register a name that was tasted 20 days ago, then it shouldn't have any affect on my earnings once those 5 days are up and I am now obligated to keep the name?

Even if google does not pay during the initial 5-day grace period you can still test the traffic so it's no big deal.

Ok, I was just making sure that I was not at risk to have a name that gets traffic but no earnings because of tasting. I know some of my names I currently own were tasted at some point, but they were tasted before Google's new policy, so I wasn't sure how it was going to affect newly tasted names.

Thanks a lot, +Rep added to both of you

how do u test the traffic in 5 days

even if your domain has good overtures for its key words and is a dot com, still it will take time for it to get listed in search engines, or do people type in with the extensions for good overture domains....i know this is a bit inside thing...but i appreciate ur opinion if anyone would like to share

To test the traffic means to actually register the name, park it for 5 days, and see how many visitors/clicks it gets. Overture or the other programs that give you monthly searches is a good starting place, but is not completely accurate for a number of visitors. If a keyword has an OVT of 10,000 then you can be pretty sure it would beat a domain with a OVT of 300, not including other factors like the amount of words the keyword comprises.

thanks for the reply sleepys
i just got forumhostingweb.com from moniker and the overture for keywords "forum hosting web" is a lot more than 10k.....i have parked it with namedrive.....n put these keywords to optimise.......is this enough to see the traffic potential in 5 days?

I am only getting 7 monthly searches using keyworddiscovery.com. The problem with Overture is that the data is extremely old, and that they don't put your keywords in order. The high monthly searches are for web hosting forum, but that keyword is closer to 1,600. Overture just doesn't care about the order. I am surprised you can get Overture to even work for you. Try this one http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html

I am not sure if you mean that you bought the name from Moniker or you registered the name on Moniker. If you registered it, than you can test the traffic and return it within 5 days, if you bought it from someone else, it is yours to keep.
