.tv Google/Youtube Video Ad Units

Hey all, been conducting a new experiment with Adsense. Specifically the google/youtube video unit.

Have it up on 3 sites, and average clicks are paying at least .14 Cents and as much as .60 cents. Average click through rate seems to be about 4%, so you would need a few hundred visitors or more to get a couple bucks a day.

Like I was saying in the other thread, I think I am going to take all of my unused domains and make a little contact page for each and use the video units instead of straight adsense. They seem to do better, and most certainly pay more per click.

So basically what I have learned is that video works better for ads then plain text or pictures. All good in the hood for the future of TV/Web 2.0.

The issue I see currently with video ads is there lack of relevancy, sometimes, primarily do to the stock of video ads they have to choose from. Since the inventory of static ads is much much larger they seem to be much more targeted to the content on the page. This is just my thinking and what I have seen. As more and more advertisers start furnishing video ads this can easily swing the other way.

Actually, when you set up your video ads, you choose the keywords for them. So they are targeted at least from what I did.

While it is true that you can select keywords it does not necessarily mean that google has ample video ad content to fit the chosen keyword. Sometimes it can be way off depending on the keyword and supply.

If you watch one of the videos, in the lower left corner of the playing video, you will see targeted ads for my site. In this case, bulldog ads.

So, for example, I chose the theme of the videos to be "Sexy women" because I am just that cool, and then the ads that show up on the videos, are targeted to my website/page.

So I would say that is pretty good targeting. I actually like bulldogs, so I did check out some of the ads.

BY the way, the page itself is VERY ugly, but I was going after the experiment itself versus anything fancy.

Actually, the setup is decent bulldog. Is this service provided for all Google Adsense accounts?

I did not see a video ad I saw one big banner ad cheapbooks right above the youtube video. there was an advertisement on the youtube video which I could click x and make it go off the screen. Where was a video ad bulldog? Thank you

SKG, I am not using those ads, so can't speak to them. Not even sure where you got them to be honest with you as I dont' see that option. But I would gladly use them if I find them.

Oh wait......................equity, you are talking about what SKG is talking about.

Edit, after looking on adsense, I assume that the video ads you all are talking about would be highly targeted to your content as well, assuming your content has a pool of advertisers with video ads:

Why don't I see video ads on my site?

You might not see video ads on your site for a number of reasons. First of all, check that you're using one of the ad formats that support video ads. Make sure you're opted in to image ads for that ad format - otherwise, your ad unit won't display video ads.

I have been using the video ads on www.OurVote.us under each candidate's profile. I too have trouble sometimes with the ad content. Sometimes it will be candidate/political related, and other times it will advertise some cleaning or random product. I guess since the adwords advertisers can target whatever ad they want with whatever keywords (they could try to promote dog food on a global warming site) , this problem is probably likely to keep happening in the future.
