For those who are complaining about w3c standards, are you still laying out pages with tables?

Sorry, its a little offtopic, but it fits in well with the flow of the thread.

XHTML and w3c standards are looking for the separation of structure and style. That is what you get with xhtml and css. If you do it right, you get validated code that is supposed to work in all browsers. Here is the reason why it does not fully work as of yet.

Companies like Microsoft tried to create their own standards for html as they did when Netscape developed javascript in 1995. Microsoft came out with JScript, which is a branch off of Javascript. The ECMA has been trying for years and is now finally succeeding in getting that issue settled, with yet their own standards version called ECMAscript (which subsequently is used by Mozilla to develop the very extensions you use in Firefox - along with XUL).

Opera has been the most standards-compliant overall. That is why they had such a following. I, along with many others, are starting to see a shift in the way that browsers work, a shift that is using code structure advancing, and a need for the separation of structure from style.
