I read the dnjournal article about the domain industry in germany; said article mentioned something about .info becoming very popular with the germans as an alternative to .de. So I fired up my bulk searcher, and found and regged the following:

domain ----- google.de keyword hits ----- english ----- live in
scheck.info ----- 1,050,000 ----- (bank) cheque ----- scheck.at
tippspiele.info ----- 16,200 ----- game tips ----- tippspiele.de
diebibel.info ----- 1,080,000 ----- the bible ----- all extensions
schluepfer.info ----- 62,600 ----- panties ----- all extensions

What are these worth, you think? I found lots of other interesting generic keywords, but need opinions before I blow more cash.

Are there any .info or .de domain experts here?

Good keywords but...?
Gotta be an "expert" around here somewhere.

scheck.info ----- 1,050,000 ----- (bank) cheque ----- scheck.at

German, of course, is not my forte ... but I'll throw out $125 - $150 for the right potential German suitor (translated into the proper currency, of course). There is a niche here, IMHO ... but non-plural will play a factor, as I see it.
Best of Luck.

Will non-plural hurt or help the name's value?

Google returns less than 80,000 results for schecks, while it returns 600,000+ for scheck.

note: Google returned more than 1,000,000 results before I registered scheck.info; don't know why it suddenly dropped.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'll probably register a few more of these.

I think the non-plural will hurt the domain's value, IMHO. The Google results may not tell the whole story here ... my thinking, would you rather own "check.com" or "checks.com", "car.com" or "cars.com", "book.com" or "books.com", though that's just my two sense ... and may not have complete relevance depending on the german translation(s) and/or the potential of the ".INFO" in that market/space. (Observations and thoughts in English). ;)
Best of Luck.

Thanks for the clarification, CH.

I just found and regged two more:

domain ----- google.de keyword hits ----- english ----- live in
spieleforum.info ----- 128,000 ----- gameforum ----- spieleforum.de
unterhaltungsmusik.info ----- 40,800 ----- light music / easy listening ----- .com, .de, .at (austria), and .li (Liechtenstein)

Someone please stop me from registering more of these if you think these are bad investments! :!:

Hmm. Perhaps threads like these are better in domain discussions, since none of us are in a position to appraise german .info's yet?

Very good observation ... and probably wise until more (and End user) results come in, for instance such as here in your quest to potentially sell to the ".DE" folks, as I understand it. It's an heck of a strategy ... and one that could prove more than worthy, IMHO.
Let's see if we can sell both of these ".INFO's" to the respective ".DE's" and keep it alive here for now! Sound logical?
Please let me know if you need any contact E-mail addresses, sample Marketing letters/approaches ... so on and so forth.
Glad to help, if I can.
Thanks and Best of Luck here, Armstrong. :tu:

While the .de owner should be interested in the .info version, I'd like to try to sell to a slightly bigger group, such as direct competitor sites. That's why I was careful to select genuine generic words so that the .de owner has little chance of a successful UDRP challenge. My thinking is, if I owned books.net, should I try to sell to Barnes&Noble (owner of books.com) only? I would think that Amazon would be very interested as well.

That's very generous of you, CH. I would appreciate it if you can let me have your most professional domain sales letter. You know, one that says 'businessman' instead of 'opportunist', although we're really a little of both :). I'll merge it with the one I'm working on right now, then have it translated to German.

Hi,

Its hard to say how much, TIPPSPIELE would be great with one P, if avalilabe...but also with 2 P the best name of your collection in my view!
DieBibel.info is also great, but this name you must promote directly to Religious-Instituts or Organisations, because people who can use this name, will not search Domian-Traders...
So good Poetntial when you offer it direct!
SPIELEFORUM.de is a very good one!
Best place to sell: nicit.de
schluepfer.info - name for adult business.....!

Hope my replys where a help for you and good luck!

Naturally, end-users for these domains are likely to be germans. Resellers are less likely to pick up on them, which is probably why no one noticed when they recently expired!

Thanks for your inputs.
