Gay Sheep "Cured"

Scientist's using hormone therapy research to "cure" gay sheep and increase herd productivity have faced considerable outcry from certain segments of the gay community, among others.

I don't understand, why would a gay community object to a project on sheep? Sure, they may think it has implications for their future, say giving the option to pregnant mothers whether they want straight children, but for the love of God, this is sheep!

I never knew a sheep could be gay and allowed to explore his sexuality in the first place!

Let's look at it from outside the box.. if gays can be "cured", then so can straights.

The implication is that being gay is a biological aberration that needs to be "cured" in the first place. That's where the controversy lies.

Many gays don't feel their sexuality is something that needs "curing".

To me, the whole thing seems to, at the very least, bolster the thought that homosexuality is biological and not "acquired" or "by choice".

A lot of procedures performed on animals would be patently illegal if done on humans. I don't see how this potential "cure" would be different, except that it provides further evidence that sexual orientation has a biological basis.

Does that mean the annual Gay and Lesbian Sheep Mardi Gras has been cancelled? I was so looking forward to that! I even bought a sheep costume so I could live a day as a gay sheep, go to Mardi Gras and experience the prejudices they face on a daily basis, first hand.
