Gaming site(s)

G'day Everyone, though it was about time i got some "peer" reviews for my site(s), it's custom built cms, bit annoying at times but hey, thems the breaks !

the 2 sites are
wowvillage
and
eq2village

i have only just started getting into url rewriting so there are 2 different url schemes been used at the moment, so thoose are a work in progress !

any comments welcomed.

i have put alot of effort into these sites - and would like to make them better =)

The 2 sites provided are pretty similar in layout, so I will rate both of them at once


+Easy and clear text
+Good font, size, and background contrast


-You should at least have a nice header/logo instead of a text-based one
-For the 'QuickLinks' section you should highlight (in some way) to tell the visiter where they are in your website
-The GoogleAds on "wowvillage" doesn't completely fit in. One way to make it fit better is to make a better header (IMHO )
-Autostretch. Although it doesn't affect the overall layout much in 1600x1200 resolution, it DOES make the homepage and other pages look plain since each paragraph would be 2 lines.

They're nice websites, good layout,

been thinking about doing somethign with the header for a little while now.

one thing i'd really like comments on would be the quest database (currenttly only on the eq2 version of the site)

The Bad

• Site loaded a bit slow.
• No favicon (people use it for bookmarking purposes).
• The Google ad doesn't quite match the site.
• The site has no real color scheme.
• The background on the text and navbar needs to be changed to match the overall theme and color of the site.
• international health insurance | why public schools hate home schooling parents ??? (relevance to WOW?)

The Good

• I really like the name.
• The header looks amazing.

The Bad

• Once again no favicon.
• Once again auto-stretch.

The Good

• Unlike the other site this one looks fantastic and has color schemes that work well!

The site design is pretty cool, but as said previously it'll be more rocking if you add graphic headers instead of text.

Good :-
The layout of the site is great and pretty much fits the design well
the navigation is pretty easy to browse aswell
the color scheme is fantastic and fits well

Bad :-
It'll be quite better if you add graphic headers other then text

The adsense surely doesn't match the color scheme and could lead to low revenue
so i really prefer that you either find a good spot elsewhere or change the colors to fit it right at the top_right.

http://www.eq2village.com/ is pretty well and similar but the navigation menu at the left is pretty empty and i would suggest you add some content or anything like banners to fill the space would look more classical.

Sites review

Hi. Both sites have nice and clean templates. They have good RPG systems, clean borders, nice colours and wonderful banners. Second, the WOWVillage forum looks well-based and structured. Third, you might want to add a forum to EverQuest2 too.

Good luck with your sites!

a gfx header on the sites is on the design list now ! =)

ok as for the auto strech, the main reason that is there is for the databases that are comming, one example is HERE , The Descriptions and texts in there can be huge and even look expansive on 1600x1200. maybe a right hand menu on the front page would be a good fix for that ?

fmauniverse - yes there will be a forums going in for eq2 as well - the sites are both running out of the same software/directory - so have to work out some mod rewrite magic for it

First of all both sites have very similar layouts, but the are nice and clean ones though so thats always a plus . Plus the font is good, so its easy ot read whats on the site(s) also you have a nice background contrast. However the Wowvillage loaded a little slow and there is no favicon.


Anyways i'd give them both roughly 7.5/10 but EverQuest 2 sohlud be around the 8/10 mark as its a little better IMHO compared to WOWvillage
