Have owned the domain since the late nineties. It used to be the biggest software site on the web, dominating t50.com and most other ranking sites. Now , it is just a spectacular domain with great commercial value. For online software companies that sell full versions of trial software. Many other potential markets, including gaming and e-commerce.

Only .net, .org, .biz, .me extensions are taken and none are developed.

I'd say you can make the best out of this domain by developing it. An organized site where people can download full versions of various different softwares. You can just provide links to download them - categorized into FREE and PAID.

Anyway, that's just my suggestion, for the domain alone - mid xxx, xxxx to a motivated buyer. Good luck!

Paid Appraisal

I got a premium appraisal from Sedo that came to 3,200$. Fullversion.org is listed for 5,388$.

Sedo appraise domains to show what end-users would pay. And a domain like this is not an easy sale because:
1) There are many alternatives
2) Doesn't serve a specific purpose
3) Very few searches when considered as an EMD (Exact Match Domain)

A really motivated buyer who has a great idea, could pay what Sedo appraised it for. Other than than, you should consider yourself lucky if you get a high xxx offer; I would definitely take it.

Cheers.

I disagree about serving a specific purpose and having low SE value. Luckily for me, I don't mind waiting another 12 years for a really motivated buyer.

Disagreeing about it, doesn't change things. Good for you, if you can wait 20 years to find a motivated buyer. As long as the domain's value goes, as I said, consider yourself lucky to get a high xxx offer. Unless it's someone who has a great idea or someone who wants to waste their lotto money, don't have high hopes on this. It's a good domain, just not great.

And just for your information, fullversions.com is available to register - for reg fee!

That is interesting that fullversions.com is available. That proves your point. I guess I'm attached to this domain since it used to be legendary. Before Torrents, before napster, before facebook, before google, there was warez. The top contenders are legendary and most of them became very rich from diversifying into the adult industry in 97-99. I was set to follow that route myself but my family forbade it and I was still a teen. I still did pretty damn good but the other top webmasters made 20x more than me since they went into adult and I went into hosting. I bet one of those guys would buy it in a heartbeat regardless of price out of nostalgia (relatively regardless that is).

Don't pay Sedo for appraisals.

What is that $3,200 number supposed to mean? Is it a buyer offering you $3,200? No. Is it a money-back guarantee that a buyer will show up offering you more than $100 within 2 years? No.

So what is it? It's as meaningful as a horoscope or a palm reading.

Very true. A few years ago, I sold a domain based on the appraisal value from godaddy. I ended up selling it for 800$ when the buyer was prepared to offer 15000. It was a huge Brazilian website and they wanted the .com. Can't trust the appraisals up or down.

I only paid for it so I could list it over 9999$. But they didn't agree with the price I wanted, so it got me absolutely nothing.
