I still use "crappy IE" as well. I am not a fan of firefox, which honestly will wind up having as many security problems as IE if it should wind up getting popular enough to be a worthy target for hackers. According to my stats nowadays, Firefox makes up 8.7 percent of the traffic, while IE makes up 87.5. They are gaining, but not enough to get everyone to switch. You have to remember that every computer comes with windows and IE.

As far as Javascript, I agree with All4cost. Javascript does a lot of cool things on a lot of sites, one of which is displaying Google's Ads. If your audience doesn't have javascript turned on, they can't see the ads. Every protocol has problems, cookie, java, javascript, etc, etc, etc, but if you worry about using a feature because of that, you wind up missing a lot. Get a good firewall, a good virus checker, and hold on, as it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
