Purely out of interest can I ask why people would give away domains for free!? Sorry to ask it is just as I am a noob so it is confusing to me.

Purely out of interest can I ask why people would give away domains for free!? Sorry to ask it is just as I am a noob so it is confusing to me.
Could be one of several reasons why someone would give away a domain for free:
  • Out of the kindness of one's heart.
  • Giving back to the community.
  • Domain is expiring soon and the owner would rather give it away than renew it.
  • Don't want to use time or resources on trying to sell it.
  • You registered the domain with development in mind but have decided to scrap the plan.
  • All of the above.
