To a new member I say this,
the names we see that sell for a high price cannot really be used to say a name simalar is worth the high dollar as the one sold. Many reasons really. One reason is if a company wants a name for their business and they do a search in a auction house for a term they will get lots of names to choose from.
Some categories in auction houses have thousands of names. Lets say our buyer negotiates for one of the names, leaving thousands of others to go back to the dark shelves of the auction house to await another roll call that may come soon, or more likely a long time later.
If a company wanted a sex name they would literally be perusing thousands and thousands of names. Good luck getting yours seen. Its like a needle in the haystack, finding it (yours) is mostly based on luck.
How many times does a term in your auction house get searched (sexforum). When it does how many results come up? If you have one name in those search results and you know the number of names in that search term you will know your ratio to get your name considered. Then too many searches result in lookers only and no sales.
Thats why I tell people that when a offer comes in you really need to know the probability of other offers coming in. If it was a fluke and you have your price to high, you may very well loose the sale and you may wait for a very long time before another offer comes along.
