Hello All,

I have a question regarding the interactivity of the forms submit button.

I have created a simple forms page with just a text field and search button.
I have pdf documents saved on a drive in its own directory on our network.
When the client types in the name of the pdf document they are searching for
and then hits the search button,
I want it to automatically go the that directory and search it, if it finds the proper pdf document
I want it to display the pdf document. I believe it will probably require
some scripting. Can anyone help??

Thanks, Innovative

There are two ways to do this.

1. First you might consider an index file, which indexes the names of the files and to which keywords they link up.

2. You might want to create a database instead of a file index. (This I believe is much better)

Of course if your clients who search, know the exact file name always, then you wouldnt have a problem, but chances are that they wont.

So first setup an indexinc mechanism. Eg. Webhosting.pdf -> relates to the words "web hosting", "web", "web server", "web site", etc...

Then when a person submits such a query, go through your index file for a match, and then submit the filename along with the URL to download.

I hope this helps.
