Hey guys, I'm new to this domain game, but wondering what methods you use to find these dropped/available domains once they hit the market?

Do you use a specific website that updates daily? Or a site that lists domains set to expire soon?

Thanks for your help.

CrazyAboutDomains,

You make it sound like there is a global pre-release list. That's not the case. Each site has their own pre-release list. The namejet pre-release list has only domains that come from partner registrars of namejet when the domains is within the first 45 days of expiry and still under the control of the registrar.

Snapnames and godaddy have their own pre-release lists. The godaddy pre-release list alone has %35 percent of all pre-release domains. On namejet you can find only a third of all pre-release domains.

tuning,
There are 3 main websites:
snapnames.com
namejet.com
godaddy.com

You need to check all of them. Also there are sites that combine all three.

I don't count pool.com as one of the main players. They are not even in on top 5 in my view. As far as I know they don't have any pre-release domains. They only have pending delete domains. However it is best to backorder all pending deletes at snapnames.com.

tuning, in your question you are asking about dropped domains. However expired domains are auctioned by their registrars long before they are due to drop. This is called pre-release although I wish it was called pre-drop, which would be more self explanatory. Only if a domain s not sold during pre-release then it will reach the dropping stage. %35 of domains reach peding delete (about to drop) without going through pre-release.

Seeing as he posted in the "Available Domains" section which is for names available to register and asked about dropped/available domains. I'm taking it as he wants to pick up names at reg fee prices. In that case Pool.com is a great tool for finding names that have dropped that day or will be dropping that day (of course many good names will haved already had backorders placed).

Erdinc, has given you excellent info on how to get dropping names before they are ever released to the open market.
