Fair price for a 4 letter .com?

I have found a 4 letter word .com. The site is not maintained with broken links etc. The listed phone number is good -- after business hours and I would like to approach the owner. The name would be for my personal use and not to be sold.

The OVT is about 1200 and 35 with ext. Naturally I don't want to pay more than I have to (provided it can be bought) but would like some input as to a fair price.

Thoughts?? Oh yes all reasonable extensions are taken with very few developed/parked.

It is a radio business site which is basically some links files which do not exist. The couple links which work are both to the Motarola web site. It says the last site update was over a year ago. The name was first Reg'd in 1997 and expires in Jan '06. The site name abd business name are so closely related and from whois I feel the name has never changed hands.

It would be a really fun thing to own. I doubt that it can be obtained but would like to give it a shot. I can trust you so I'll PM the name.

That is my intention. I called today but was after business hours. I am just trying to get a wag as to what might be a fair price for both parties (fair market value).

Damn!! Dead deal but the guy was cool & he didn't know the site had broken stuff cause it works in that crap browser. We visited for half an hour & I have just emailed a fix for his broken links. He does get sales from it.

He uses front page and when inserting an image it must make the link as ..\whatever instead of ../whatever. Apache (in this context) sees the \ as an escape character and therefore the link is broken. Non compliant crap!!

Now y'all knlow why I was excited -- hark_com is the domain so I reg'd hark_ws.

Bet the email addy will drive the hark.com owner bonkers & I'll lose stuff so will just use it for misc fun stuff.
