Hey guys,

So I have found a 5 letter .com It actually is 2 words that are abbreviated. There is search volume on Google for the keywords. According to Advertiser CPC and traffic, EstiBot appraised this domain for about $500

I can register is right now for $15 or so

However, the domain does not have an actually word because of these abbreviations. It looks more a random 5 letter dot com

My question are 5 random letter domains valued anything to begin with?
Thank you!

.US domains.US domains
Is it pronounceable? Do you know what words are being abbreviated upon reading it out loud? Ask yourself questions that someone who knows nothing about domains might ask

Are you planning to develop it or sell it or what?

If you planning to sell it, you should have a plan before you buy it. If it's a .com, you can probably register it for less than $15. If it's not a .com, then you should consider that it might be harder to sell. You wouldn't want to use Estibot to determine the value. Past similar sales are a much better gauge.

Of course a 5 letter domain name can be valuable. But without you telling us what the domain name is, I can only tell you to check out namebio.com or something to get a value for yourself.

^^^ What @Silentptnr said.

If it's a .COM, there are promos floating around, making it possible to register it for around $1... it's a no-brainer, 5L .COM, I'd just go for it if I had a good vibe about it (y)

If it's not a .COM... well, I make a point of staying away from those, so I'd look for some 5L .COM's instead :cigar:

I would say: dont register.

For most of domainers, their personal visions sometimes are very subjective, the more they want to register the name, the more illusions they can be super misleading; vice versa, the more imaginary expectation you have on that name, the more unknown desires created inside of yourself.

Do more research is important, for example, find out if there are any already brand, businesses are using this name. But , but, these are not sufficient .....

Go for it! If you're a real domainer, you can't help it, you have to register it! :xf.wink:

But hey, none of that $15 nonsense! If you're a real domainer, you also know where to handreg for under $2! :cigar:

I do make research. My first domains were plain stupid. I get into the numbers, stats etc now. A whole different phase of domain hunting now. Still kinda new to this side of things though for sure.

These kind of thread creates too much curiosity for me about what the name might be :xf.rolleyes::xf.rolleyes:, so if you happen to register it and sell then please come back later and update this post. So that we each would know if our opinion was wrong or right.

My opinion would be to go ahead and book it. The bad that can happen is it wont sell like you expected. But the worst that can happen is someone else picks it up and sells it for more than you expected. Domaining is a very personal venture and everyone is learning everyday. Goodluck. :joyful:

Worse thing ever! :xf.wink:
Yep! Pain beyond compare! :xf.wink:
Had this happen to me recently. Thought about handregging a domain a couple weeks ago. Got interrupted and forgot about it. When I got back to it a couple of days ago, somebody'd already regged it in the meantime! :banghead:

Just to moderate your enthusiam, there are currently several hundreds of available .com 5L domains. Many are pronounceable. Probably there were massive purchases a couple years ago during the 4L bubble and they are now massively dropped.

That said, your risk is only 2 to 15$. I'll re-emphasize what was already said: try to visualize to whom you will sell your domain if you buy it.

If the domain looks like it has potential and you have a plan, go for it. Every decision builds your experience as a domainer.

I think you meant to say: several hundreds of thousands... no? :sneaky:

You are probably right. In fact, I was thinking only those which were registered at least once already and dropped recently.
