I was just searching for a new domain and the .com is taken or so I'm told. Here is what whois.sc told me:

Record last updated on 06-Dec-2004.
Record expires on 05-Dec-2004.
Record created on 05-Dec-2003.

But it also says this:
Created: 05-dec-2003
Expires: 05-dec-2005
Status: REGISTRAR-LOCK

What exactly does this mean? When will it be available? Next year or this year? Anyone have an idea? This is why I hate expiring domains! :-/

It still has to go throught the drop process, id say another 35 days, unless its really good then you'll have to backorder.

The domain has been renewed as it says 2005 for the expiration date. There's no use backordering a name that has nearly a year left on it. :tu:

So the second Expire date is the correct one?

Yes, I'd always go with the latest expiration date if there's two sets in a whois record. Probably just hasn't been completely updated yet. :)
