I've never been in favor of automated appraisals, but I think estibot.com is doing a fairly decent job versus anything else I've seen. Traffic domains seem to be more accurate than generics. And of course it's almost impossible to automate the appraisal of a brandable. It has been 50/50 in accurately pricing domains I've sold recently - by this I mean within 20%. The ones that it has been off on, was a mix between undervaluing and overvaluing.

I've come across a few surprises though - my latest one was for costrecovery.com. I recently bought this domain (and now also have the .net) I felt it was a very strong domain for a right end user and the EPC is very nice (3-4 range @ fab). I almost fell off my chair when I ran it through estibot and it was given an appraisal of 41,000! I had thought this would be a case where estibot would underestimate.

Anyone else willing to share how accurate they have found estibot to be versus actual end user selling prices?

Thanks in advance,

Sharon

Ran a few of my domains through Estibot, and it is pretty accurate.

Falsifications . com - $410
AsianSUV . com - $80
PovertyLines . com - $300 (this is a bit overestimated)
WeeklyDigests . com - $100
MyVegetable . com - $100

However it appraised State Of Nepal . com as regfee, even if this is an official country name. However I understand Estibot cannot recognize these added values to a domain name.

Overall I am impressed by it, very nice work Josh, and it is a very useful tool to find out quickly the parameters of a given domain.

Josh.

I just ran quiet a few domains by estibot.
Somethig is definately wrong. It is showing the lowest value from the previous fluctuations. It is under appraising for some reason on a variety of domains.
this is especially true for non .com domains (but including .coms)

Just a heads up, keep up the great work!

I have noticed the exact same thing.

nav phones . com was $15,000 the other day and now shows $550. :'(

But in general, it (estibot) seems pretty decent.

I'll try it out with a bunch of my domain sales and post results. Don't change anything yet Josh... it seems to be more accurate than ever (at least for me).

EDIT: I ran 30+ names through from personal sales and also a few recent eBay sales for good measure. Most of the valuations were well within the ballpark and none of them were severely overvalued. A few appraised at reg-fee, but these were mostly hard to value 3-word .coms and longer domains with numbers. I did notice that 3-character .coms were slightly overvalued, but well within the range of an end-user sale. The LLL.mobi valuations were very good.

IMHO, I think this is the best this version of Estibot has ever been. It's more conservative with it's valuations, but I think this has resulted in more accurate appraisals.

I'm REALLY looking forward to EstibotV2! Great work Josh!

I was going to say it appraised a bit higher...but after checking numbers again today, it looks very good.

It seems caps are messed up in Estibot on appraisals! I can do my REFINANCE.CC now in caps and I get reg fees or $50.00. If I get an appraisal on refinance.cc in lower case, I get $6,100.00 each time. See for yourself. It is a great free appraiser though.

Dont' do all caps:) It will think you want to evaluate each letter as a separate search term: r e f i n a n c e

As the front page instructions say, caps can be used to separate keywords manually. You can also separate them with a space. If your domain is an English language domain, just type all lowercase and everything together. EstiBot can nearly always separate the keywords automatically.

The reason I have the Caps system in place is because I wanted the user to have complete control over the keywords they want to see analyzed.

Thanks so much for testing and giving feedback! Did you try the bulk overture tool and domain extractor yet?

Josh

v2

Looking forward to version 2!

This newest update seems to undervalue most domains. Domains checked previously are coming in at about 1/10th what they were before.

It is not as accurate, whereas before when checking actual sales made in the past, it was very accurate about half of the time.

I am betting v2 will be as great as the premier version was and then some!
