Espn like Right column

ive been racking my brain for days trying to work this out.

Basically i like the 'sidebar popup' as i call it that sites are using to fill monitors with 1024 + resolution, but doesnt load and therefore doesnt result in a horizontal scroll bar in 800x600 size.

Examples are:

http://www.nba.com
http://www.news.com.au

Hopefully someone could help me, ive looked all through the site but don't know the terminology to search for.

Not exactly sure what you mean... you mean something like detecting the screen resolution??

I think he wants to detect the screen reso and then display some sort of table on the right to fill that space... like on ESPN

Be aware that even if someone is using 1024x768 they may have their window at a much smaller size. Therefore the javascript would be useless for those people.

Of course a few things will need to be implemented in that script for security (IE: checking that the resolutions are in fact numbers)

WOE WOE WOE! I don't maximise my browser windows for a REASON, if I come to a site that resizes my browser window then I'm gone. And I will not return.
