Welcome to the club! Yea, that's the feeling I get when I don't get to the list I go through until almost a day after it comes out and find that most of the best names were taken. It's tough because they come out around midnight my time...not very convenient. Last night's shorter list was the first good one I've seen in a while, hence the length of time since my last list...I may have to go back to the longer list I go through sometimes, whether or not I can get through it all (usually takes an hour or two to go through that list as opposed to about 20 minutes to go through the shorter list). May just be posting names starting with A-G or something the next few days, lol.

P.S. - I like LookThisUp.com...I like phrase domains so that's my kinda name right there. I got emailed by someone inquiring about my WhatsMyName.com, and I told him in order to stop my development on it, he'll have to probably pay upwards of $20k. Even though the guy was apparently representing a hosting company probably looking for WhatsMyName.com to be a domain site, I doubt he would pay anywhere near what I'd want for it, even if I wasn't developing on it. I love that name too much, and the OVT of over 5,000 for "Whats My Name" backs me up on that.

Thanks for the compliment on the name, picked it up on here about a month ago for $88USD and 66.60NP$'s - (a real steal if you ask me) & since then Ive been developing it as quickly as possible. And youre right WhatsMyName.com is a real good domain - what are you planning on putting up there?

Thanks for the compliment Boomers, and I agree that you got a great deal on that name...good luck with it! I WAS getting WhatsMyName.com developed and then the developer apparently has decided to just stop working on it...not happy since I gave them some money upfront, and what they had thus far shown me, design and programming, looked like a 10 year old programming a site onto a free template...absolutely HORRIBLE. So I'm having to start over with someone else (someone I know a bit more thankfully). I'm still undecided on what I want the site to be as a whole, but the original premise was to have a slew of games stemming from one main game called What's My Name, where you see pictures of real people (like on HotOrNot.com) and instead of rating them, you have 4 choices for their name and you try to guess which one is right. Some of the other games were What's My Age, What's My Sign, What's My Job, What's My Movie, etc, and then a personals spinoff called "Should We Meet?". Since I'm starting over, I'm reconsidering whether I should keep those games and personals as the main draw, or have it be something more.

Ridley: Not going to give it away, sorry! Not sure if you have ever visited EliteDeletes.com yet, but as I mention on there, I'm keeping open the possibility of making full daily lists (full as in 80+ a day) and putting them on there for a membership (probably about $15 or $20 a month, which wouldn't be bad given I've had sales of many names gotten through this process), and would likely about 5-10 a day shown for free. It's not like the lists are made by magic or that I'm simply copying them from somewhere...to make a full list, it takes me a lot of time as I check Google and generally OVT with every name that catches my eye, and even still include some names that don't have good search numbers because they still look good to me. Since I've sold names gotten from this process for as much as $1500 before, and have now sold quite a few names gotten from this process, I'm not going to give away where I get my master list from. Sorry!

Ah. They are daily lists of expired domains, but are obviously not the ENTIRE list of expired names, as that's enormous and I would never get through it every day.

No kidding. I'm still pretty new at this (heading into about 2.5 months actively) but the first time I saw the amount of expired domains that come through each day I about fell out of my chair.

Maybe it would be smart to team up on these things. Maybe get a few folks and each go through a letter each day, as schedules allow? I wouldn't mind helping. I actually just ran through a few LLLL.com consonant-vowel checks for open domains and might post them when I'm done running all the permutations.

The good thing about expirED domain lists instead of expirING domain lists is that expired domain lists include unexpected drops, which include cancelled names, names dropped by registrars (probably for violation), etc....all names that never hit the PendingDelete stage and thus are never on an expiring domains list and generally aren't backordered. You're right about there not really being PREMIUM names in expired domains lists...I mean the chances of finding a name that can easily be sold for $x,xxx is pretty much nil, but some of my best names like PayStars.com (sold for $1,500), Age17.com, Area18.com, 24thCentury.com, AdOff.com, DomainAssociate.com, WhatWouldYouLike.com (sold for $550), OceanModel.com (sold for $950), etc. came from doing this, and I can't imagine all of those were names that did hit PendingDeletes and just weren't backordered.

The biggest drawback to expired domain lists is ironically because it includes refund names, which now include the tons of names in the "kiting" scheme so often talked about where registrars, domibot, greyhare, etc. snatch up names and then drop them. I literally might see the same name 4 times in a week, and definitely see a lot of them 2-3 times a week on the lists I look at. I mean some of them are actually good quality names, but still...it's discouraging when looking for fresh names and some days it seems like every other name on the list is a kited name.

From my experience, most registrars don't cancel names and then let them drop naturally anymore. I think for the most part they simply cut off access to the domain and then put them on the auction block when they expire. I've reported names before that had been "deserted" by their owners or had intentionally dubious who-is data (after I tried repeatedly to reach the owner, of course). In every case, they simply put the name on hold and then let it go through their greed-driven auction scheme once it expired.

I agree with you there...parking revenue aside, considering a lot of the names I post wind up being taken by them sooner or later, there ARE good names among those being kited IMO. It's just a pain going through the lists, seeing a bunch of familiar names wondering "did I already put that in a list? Have I already seen this one before?". It's also annoying when GreyHare and the like are on the prowl and people getting to my list a few hours late find a lot of the names taken. All I can say is that they were available when I checked.

In general...The traffic buyers will test names..and those who don't produce...they will release....Definatly not fair....But then ICANN and verisign don't care..so......."Crooky" pretty much hit nail on the head with the above post...And when verisigns central listing service goes into effect..It will only get worse....I see some nice regers in your drop lists though
