Hi,

I have backorder a domain with dropcatch.com and the whois is showing that they got the name but the domain is not showing in my account or on their platform not even on auction page, they sent me an email of failure to catch the domain. Its so annoying, does anyone else had the same experience.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It sounds like dropcatch did get the name but remember you are not the only one putting in to catch it. This means someone else using dropcatch got it.

I know @Omar Negron has more experience on this since he handles that side of the biz and does it daily. He should give you his input as well.

Wait @Omar Negron works for DropCatch? Never knew this. Been trying to list domains with them. I've been put on waiting list. And chance to speed that up?

Domain with multiple backorders goes into private auction.

If they have indeed managed to catch the domain, they should not be sending out failed to catch the domain email.

Did you bid the full $59 or use the discounted backorder function?

No, Omar does not work for DropCatch.

@Ram Khelavan , can you PM me the domain and your account name, and I will have somebody look into this right away for you.

Thanks!

Then who does?:xf.wink:

Also with backorders does it matter if one you paid for was $59 or $18

Or is backordering a crapshoot or whoever ordered first?

I am one of the employees at DropCatch.com.

At DropCatch.com, we have two tiers of backorders available to the public. Standard backorders, and "Discount Club" backorders.

I urge anyone interested to read the DropCatch.com Terms and Conditions, specifically sections 2 thru 6 in order to have a better understanding of our process. If you have additional questions, please contact our support team at [email protected].

Thanks,
-J

Cool J so any chance to get on board with DropCatch soonER rather than later? You guys seem to do better numbers than Namejet.

lolol no he didn't mean I work for them. I DO NOT.

He was trying to say I'm the one who handles putting in the orders for drops through the different drop catchers (Namejet, Snapnames, Dropcatch etc).

Wow ok?? You should start a thread talking about what kind of domains or keywords people lately have been ordering?

Isn't that a bit of unfair advantage?

Always wondered if people who work in the registrar's . The "worker bees" use their "access to data" as a form of "learning from others"?

Must be nice Omar ! Lol

I think you're confused. I said, I DO NOT work for any of the registrars.

What Will was referring to is it's my responsibility to make sure I put the domain backorders in for domains we want to acquire through the drop. Will does more of the sales side of things and I do more of the acquiring through auctions and backorders.

Just trying to be clear here.

I understand completely I was talking in general a minute ago. Lol

And on now I get it. You do all that for YOUR biz. Got it.

Thanks.

I'd like to get into the mind of a dropcatcher. Someone who goes thru expireds.

What is the usually criteria to make a move on an expired domain? And why do only some domains get put up for auction? And some don't ? Is it strictly all about how many people put back orders on it?

I had some go into redemption. Some I would have been ok to lose but others??

Kinda hoping no one grabs them or some.

Freaking Lcn man. Screwed up my order because wild west(GoDaddy) blocks the whois preventing transfers via automated whois lookup.

That is a BIG ten four. I know a larger (5000+) domainer just got a job in an entry level position at a registrar...either the person is looking for 'preferred' treatment or hoping to sell off the portfolio...if I can get a handle on what is happening I will start a thread

Apologies for sideways topic response.

Like JBubba said, Read TC’s of dropcatch. Participate. You cant mind read, but I will tell you what I have done. I have reviewed daily entire expired lists for over a year. Its tons of work, I have parser software too. I try to not do what other people do. Some people have the same niche or caught on to my niches and then it goes to auction, thats business. Some I bid, some I don’t. Some are bought by others to copy trends. Some are bought with dashes and goofy names solely for backlinks. If more than one person other than yourself order it, it will go to auction. Some names like a 4 char might have 43 bidders. Some might have you and one other. And some you grab at $59 because nobody else wants the name as you personally see an end user for it or simply like it, or maybe its unfavorable like a porno name. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I just figured it would be how namejet accepted me so long as you have a huge amount.

Hi,

I have backorder a domain with dropcatch.com and the whois is showing that they got the name but the domain is not showing in my account or on their platform not even on auction page, they sent me an email of failure to catch the domain.

I just wanted to clear up any confusion on this one. After Ram PM'd me the domain, the domain in question was actually caught by the following registrar:

Registrar: Dropcatch Auction LLC
Registrar IANA ID: 2841

This registrar is not a part of DropCatch.com, but is rather a part of NetworkSolutions. There are a handful of domain registrars that have the word "Dropcatch" in their name, but they are not us. All of our registrars that have the word "DropCatch" in their name all have "DropCatch.com" in them.

I apologize that there was any confusion with this, but this domain was caught by a different registrar, and as such the email to Ram was correct.

Thanks,
-J

My account is new so I will add an Avatar as soon as I find any interesting one ☺ for me this problem was more important than choosing an Avatar.
