I regged Domers.org and offer it free to any stand-up individual or interested group from within our community who wishes to put up a site for the express purpose of raising funds for disaster relief. I can help and contribute names for auction as well as other resources, but am not in a position to spearhead the effort at this time.

The name is a shortened version of "domainers" and implies a shelter, ("dome"), and is an acronym for DOmain Marketers Emergency Relief Services .Org It also rhymes w/ donars, although that may be stretching it some. ("Domars" is avail,but couldn't work out an appropriate acronym.)

Am interested in ideas, resources, and services people would be willing to donate, and am in search of a leader or members who would like to form a board to discuss the potential for a group of this nature.

I gave a good amount of thought to the name, like it and will donate it, however this does not have to be the name used, so if someone has, or can come up w/ a better one, all the better. What do you think?

I kind of agree with that.. for the big efforts.. but still a nice idea for raising small amounts of emergency relief money for other efforts.

I have to agree. I'm often stronger in the idea department than in the execution of concepts dept.

It definitely makes more sense to focus our energies and resources into existing agencies rather than into piecing together an organiztion, at least in the immediate term. If any among us has experience in non-prof fund raising and would like the name for something longer term, they are welcome to it.

Otherwise, I guess I could go w/ something like Does .Org Make Error Refunds? :D
