I know that all of the domainers are looking for money with their domain names. I know that this community in here at NamePros has many members. But our problem is that we are always looking for profits for our domain names.

But think of this option, maybe we could in one big family to create domain marketplace which will at same time support kids who has cancer or disease which we cannot make nothing for it.

Let's make life better and support all of each other! I think that this is problem in domaining, we are looking always about dollars, euros etc. That is only money! Some of our people make xx,xxx amount with domaining. 100$ for that price would help a lot kids and adults who has rare disease.

We are managed right now to make 5,300$ to this marketplace. Our future is in our childrens! We can as a big community to choose where we invest our money like Extreme Make Over Home Edition!

Who is in with this idea? And all of these persons who is in we will create own organization!

Let's make our own PayPal, Escrow, Western Union account!

Interesting to see how few people actually read these meet and greet posts before replying :xf.smile:

So your plan is for domainers to give some of their profits to charity? (The ones who make any significant profit).

The thing about charitable organizations is they have to be registered. It's a big assumption that domainers need to band together and help your cause. You are assuming we are all about the money with your blanket statements. Personally I get solicited for charity every time I buy something at the grocery or hardware store. It is getting crazy, between church, girl scouts and school funding drives etc. My two kids are in Catholic school and I am inundated with donation requests for events. If I add it up up comes to thousands of dollars each year.

So yes charity work is a good idea but you need to establish relationships before you can request funding for a project we know nothing about. Start by posting a business plan, who would run the organization, who is drawing a salary. Heck there are a lot of logistics to look at before fund raising can even begin.

So I'll pass for now, won't rule it out, but feel free to ask again when a solid business plan is presented.

Our preferred registered charity is Sydney Dogs and Cats Home which is promoted through out our network of sites.

Thanks for your reply @MapleDots

We aren't looking for any financial support. We are only building marketplace and 10% of all profits are gonna go to kids cancer treatments!

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't get the difference, when I donate 10% who decides where the money goes?
I still think it needs to be run like a charity to decide where to allocate funds and how much goes to administration etc.

All I am saying is there needs to be a lot of planning for something like this and starting out by saying we are all about the money is not necessarily the best approach. I am sure a lot of my friends here contribute generously to charities.

We are making marketplace and 10% will go to straight to children treatments. There are gonna be many options where you can choose where you put your money.

This idea has lot of planning but still, we can support childrens who has rare or uncommon disease. We are gonna invest money to that project and hopefully YOU domainers can understand what we are looking for

Let me try to clarify here .. I'm pretty sure when Sami says "we" he isn't refering to his own group .. he's referring to all of us at NamePros and that we should start this project ourselves.

Sami .. don't take this the wrong way .. I'm certainly in favour of fighting cancer and I have donated and even organized events myself for the Canadian Cancer Society. However most domainers here are not making profits. Plus the logistics of what you are asking is a nightmare to organise with different sets of paperwork needed for each country and each organisation.

Plus it's like asking everyone to donate 10% of their salary .. it's not really appropriate as you are assuming everybody here can afford to give .. which certainly is not the case as the majority of domainers lose money.

Maybe start a thread inviting people to pledge to donate 10% of the profit from their next sale to Cancer (but certainly have it as a self-regulated sort of thing so people can take care of their own tax receipts).

@DomainSherpa (Michael Cyger) is absolutely fantastic at raising money for Cancer .. he puts in an incredible amount of time and energy to raise funds for the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center. Each review done at Domain Sherpa raises money for Cancer research. He also organises an annual domainer meetup in Seattle where every dollar paid by participants also goes to Fred Hutchison. If donating to Cancer research is something important to you, then I definitely suggest you donate to Fred Hutchison and submit your portfolio for review to the Sherpas (check out DomainSherpa.com first for more details) ! :)

Why are you stopping at 10%? Why not give 100%? Think of the children...
