Hello everyone,

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where NP members could see who as a fellow domainer is also on Twitter

I would love to connect with other people interested in domains so I will make the start.

This is my Twitter username: My twitter profile

Feel free to follow. I will follow back.

Regards,
Fabian

Can someone explain Twitter to me please, I just don't get it.

I understand the principle but do not get why people use it or what the benefits are.

Hi Weblord.

Just added you.

In my opinion Twitter is really useful for connecting with likeminded people and also easy use.

But that needs to be decided by everyone personally of course. :)

I still don't get it. Is this so you know what everybody is doing every second of their life?

It sounds like something that would only appeal to preteen girls.

Am I missing something here?

The idea is that you cut the crap out of your story, kind of like sending an sms,
no need to be blabbing friendly bs with an introduction or a conclusion at the end.
Easy for bloggers who do not want to spend an hour a day making an interesting blogpost, but still have something to report.

What people do with in in real life can be very different like updating people constantly about something which is not interesting at all.
Therefor you can pick and choose who you "follow", if someone is not very interesting you stop"following" him/her.

While it was originally a tool for telling others "what you are doing," Twitter and other similar services have evolved into something much more. News outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and others use the service as a means to broadcast news headlines. Various bloggers use it to drive traffic to their sites. Companies such as Dell and Comcast use it as a means for interacting with their customers. Twitter was also used to break the news about the China earthquakes and Hurricane Gustav. Here are a few articles that may help you to better understand all of this:

Okay....I get it now. Thanks Hennie and Seanboy.

It sounds like ultra-fast business can be done with this. :]

Rep added Seanboy for listing all those articles..... thanks.

Twitter can be much faster than email to solve problems. I twitted a problem with a company and got an almost immediate response and fix. An email to the same company might have been ignored.

However, this is typical of new techs - they are very friendly. Once Twitter becomes a household word, I wonder how effective it will be in this regard.

I am papawasabi, if anyone wants to follow

Twitter has a real time search engine that is free for anyone to use:
http://search.twitter.com

Many companies use will use Twitter Search to find related tweets.
