Thanks for that feedback.

For Afternic I let the guy in charge know to look over this thread to read the feedback.

I understand the paywall issue but as a plug for Domain Academy the complete toolset that we offer is much cheaper than if you were to subscribe to separate tools to get that same info. I am starting to put some of the tools and their uses on YouTube, and will add more content on how they can help an investor throughout the course of the year.

On the Domain Academy side of things the tool is still in Beta. I am working with the devs to make it more robust and the First new feature I have on my list is to get a "date added" filter. If you have any other feedback I am all ears.

That's it for now I don't want to hijack this thread but maybe I can get another one going on Domain Academy. Thanks again for your feedback.
Joe,

Perhaps I'm not too savvy, so I apologize in advance. But, is there any chance you could explain why you hide a proper search function behind a paywall (aside from collecting Domain Academy fees that is)? I absolutely refuse to pay a fee just so I can do a search. And personally, I don't care for the other tools on offer. So I don't visit AN at all now when looking to purchase domains. I know there are others like me. So there are a bunch of investors who could purchase from you but don't. Please tell me why that makes better business sense for GoDaddy?

I understand there is value in Domain Academy for many people, but why make it so the Afternic Search is part of that?

I think I pointed that out in the video, that you needed to manually look at the comps because of this.
I mean, you pasted the domain in CamelCase and the tool didn't even recognize the two main keywords.

It also changed the presentation from what you pasted.

Hi Joe,
I appreciate the idea of creating videos to give tools and useful tips for buying and selling DN, but if the idea is of an Academy, I think your video are not like lessons but only chatting. Lessons, courses... (academy) could be created with a more captivating and effective teaching and visual method.

I can no longer access the Domain Valuation Tools.

The address appears to have changed. I have now found access in the GD portfolio area.
However, I have to log in separately to Domain Academy and get an error message about a single sign-on error, joined by the Salesforce Logo. Url: https:// community.godaddy.com/_nc_external/identity/saml/SamlError

Previously, an extra login to the Academy was not necessary; GD Login was sufficient.

What did I miss, anybody?

P.S.: I am still a paying DDC member.

Send me a pm with your email address for your account and I will look on the salesforce side and find the issue with your login.

If you are interested in more formal training, the YouTube and Podcast mediums are not intended for that. You can find around 30 hours of coursework on DomainAcademy.com.

Domain Academy links to this GoDaddy Resources Library page "Comparing the best domain registrars of 2024"

Why is Porkbun not included?

Joe, I'm sorry to see you ignore my question about including Porkbun. Currently, Domain Academy has a prominent, SEO-optimized, "compare domain registrars" link on its homepage, but it seems to focus solely on promoting GoDaddy and Discount Domain Club. This makes me wonder, how neutral is Domain Academy actually with the courses and information it currently provides? I get the strong impression that primarily your own services are being promoted, rather than providing a complete picture of the registrar and marketplace field. This approach is detrimental to domain sellers who want to succeed. Domain investors who pay for GoDaddy DDC and Domain Academy are essentially paying your company to get even more promotion for your own services. It's a brilliant strategy, but it's also quite disappointing.

Porkbun has been consistently scoring extremely high in polls and discussions on this forum over the past few years, unlike GoDaddy and Afternic. This is particularly impressive considering their relatively small size and minimal spending on promotion compared to GoDaddy. Porkbun should be actively promoted as one of the go-to registrars for domain investors by Domain Academy. This also applies to popular marketplaces like DomainEasy, Atom, and other companies that are innovating where GoDaddy is falling short.
