Microsoft talked about their new concept DigiDesk which was unveiled at Convergence '07.

It might be some time before this actually comes into play but a really sick peice of technology.

I like the name, but is DigiDesk a codename, actual product name, or a buzzword they are using?

I think the value depends on what word the industry starts to use for these products and even though Microsoft is a big player there are other businesses that have been working on these allot longer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-y3ZNaCqs).

I'd put the current value in the low $xxx, just based on speculation. If it becomes an industry adopted word, then I don't see why it wouldn't rise to the mid $x,xxx. If not, then I wouldn't imagine it would maintain any value.

I don't think it's a codename. At least it doesn't appear to be like the Orgami Project which turned into zune.

It's still a concept at this point, but blogs seem to use DigiDesk as the term. Microsoft itself in a press release calls it the digidesk as opposed to the "Center of Information Work".

At this point even though it's targetted to industry and businesses fast forward that a bit and you could see this in people's home (though that will definitely take time).
