Hi there...

I have no clue what is the most popular software that today's DESIGNERS use...

If I were to run a contest and wanted to give away a TOP of the LINE Design Software - WHAT would that software be ???

I have been thinking that in the near future I would announce a contest that each designer submitting a design to my various contests would also get an entry into a drawing during holiday time - that would result in ONE winner getting the Design software - - - but first - - - step one would be to find out what that MOST POPULAR piece of design software is...

suggestions and feedback appreciated...

I was thinking also that the contest for the software should probably
allow the previous winners of my design contests to have 2 entries
for that particular contest - and the other participants to have one entry...

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing...

Maybe this will be simpler:

Design Contest 1 - winner 2 entries - - - other design entries 1 entry per person per design contest

Design Contest 2 - same
Design Contest 3 - same
etc...

then at the end of the year - all those design contest winners and entry participants would have several accumulated chances in a big drawing
near holiday time - for the design software...

I was thinking though - the designers may already own the design software...

so perhaps offering an Amazon Gift Certificate would be an alternate option...

but...

I still want to know what the MOST POPULAR design software is ???

and

What sort of computer hard drive - would be needed to run that software at it's optimum ??

please either post responses here - or PM me...

any advice or suggestions appreciated...

I want to figure out a way to do something else nice for all the designers that enter my contests... I've had 2 so far ... and there will be at least a dozen more before the end of the year (or more) - - - unless I end up outright hiring some of those designers to crank out my projects...

thank you kindly...

Top of the line design software? Depends for what purpose... If it's for logo design, Adobe Illustrator. For advanced and detailed graphic design (apart from logos), Photoshop. CorelDRAW is also another top piece of design software. You could also go into web design software and look at Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Hope that helps :)

I agree with Will: either Photoshop, Illustrator, or Dreamweaver. But I hope you have some serious cash to provide those as prizes! :)

Hi Will...

Thanks for responding ??

If the software were to hopefully be used to create any sort of graphic on could run across ON a website - such as logos, banners, flash, animation, templates etc... what would be best to get ??

hi anthony....

thanks for the response...

I've heard of Photoshop and Dreamweaver... I don't recall ever hearing of Illustrator.... could you tell me who makes that - and what sort of differences
that software offers - as opposed to Photoshop or Dreamweaver... ??

I always thought Dreamweaver was just a website html type page creator...
I didn't know that it also had the capabilities of creating the graphics to use on those html pages...

I don't know about DreamWeaver being able to actually create graphics. However, I do know the Illustrator is also made by Adobe, and it allows for creation of Vector Images. Most used for the creation of logos only. PhotoShop doesn't currently offer much Vector ability, so logo designers prefer to use Illustrator.

Dreamweaver definitely does not create graphics.. it's a coding program.

There is no 'best' piece of design software, as each designer likes using different software (some use a certain program because it they cannot afford Photoshop, some use others because they like it). However, if you were to get one software bundle for graphics design, get Adobe Creative Suite. It costs more than Photoshop, but it includes Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, and some others.

Macromedia Flash is best for flash animation, and Maya 7 is best for 3D rendering (beware, it costs a few thousand dollars).

I think you should give out some other type of software. If you give designing software to a designer, it is a little pointless since normally the designer has the software... But, an Amazon Gift card or some other option would be nice :)

The most popular design software by far is Adobe Photoshop, which can make a wide variety of graphics and even animation (using ImageReady, which comes with Photoshop). Illustrator only does graphics work (ideal for logos, not so great for other things), whereas you could do a simple 'vector' logo using photoshop.

There is also Paintshop Pro, which is way cheaper than Photoshop.

I am curious...

if someone were to purchase Photoshop on eBay - would there be
something specific they should watch out for ?? - - - such
as should there be some sort of product code - or activation number
for the software - that the buyer should be sure the seller provides
to make the software fully functioning ??
