Hey there,

I was just wondering if I use content from another site but make sure I include a copyright note at the bottom with it then does that make it ok to use or do you have to always ask the owner of the content if you can use it because I have some pages that I have made and included articles that are not mine but I have made sure I have said who they belong to with a message like this "Compliments of . . . "

Any help would be great thanks,

If i was to copy someones article, and post it on my site, i would ask the author first.

Just to make sure it's ok with them...
As, some won't mind, but some will go mad if the find their content elsewhere...

Better off to ask them. :)

Surely when you take somebody's content you'd better to inform the author about it (I mean take his permission on publishing his articles). Copyrights are copyrights. Otherwise it can cause many troubles.

what if they dont own any copyrights to the article?

If they made the content, ask them.

I'm sure you would be annoyed if you saw a article you spent a hour doing, on someone else's site.

It soesn't really matter if it has copyright or not, the decent thing to do, is to ask. :)

If they created the content, then they automatically own the copyrights to it unless they have explicitly released it to public domain. Since the mid to late 1980's, copyrights are automatic for the creator in the US.

just ask the author nicely, i'm sure they'll let you use it if you mention them.
