PHP or Apache. What's the difference? I'm just getting started with Mambo and I guess I need one or the other? Thanks for any help.
Are you planning on doing this on your home pc?Phronesis said:Thanks,
Can someone provide a link to where I can get PHP and Apache? (MySQL necessary too?)
Phronesis said:Good grief. I'm just trying to develop a nicer site than what I can do with WYSIWYG. I need to turn my home PC into a server? Geez. Considering I don't know a programming language (save simple html), and don't want to run a server out of my house, this is probably not the course for me.
No, the only reason you would ever need to download them, is if you wanted to install them on your own personal server that you would maintain, if you are using a host (buying hosting) then they will have this on there server, so there is no need for you to download them. Also, for mambo, you will not really be working on this on your computer like you do with hmtl editors, you will install it in your hosting web space, and work on it from there.Phronesis said:phew! ok, thanks. But, do I need to download PHP and Apache still?

Mambo Help Page said:When you have finished uploading the files and folders, go to your homepage (http://www.yoursite.com or http://yoursite.com/mambofolder). You should now see a pre-installation check page generated by Mambo.
