Hi everyone.

Just interested on your thoughts about the fairly new co.com ?

Do you think it will take off over time or be a non runner ?

Best,
Paul

Personally I can't stand it, I find it the most unpleasant domain extension to look at purely down to the cross over between ccTLD (co.LL), and the .com. Looks messy to me, I won't be investing.

I'm sure others will have different opinions though.

OK jdab. I guess we all have different opinions so thanks for yours. I am new to domaining so interested in finding out what people think.

I bought a few .co.coms - here are some examples

Supermarket.co.com
Pharmaceutical.co.com
Pharmaceuticals.co.com

I guess just sit on them and see how it kicks in ?

Best,
Paul

I guess so - they are good dictionary words but you have to think, if they were available to hand-reg, something must be up :P

I guess you are right. If they were .coms then the story would be different !

Do you know a way to value these domains ? Estibot does not accept a co.com yet.

Best,
Paul

From personal experience and from reading other posts on here, I wouldn't go by Estibot values. Best to have a proper appraisal by an expert.

Sorry to sound harsh, but I would value them at $5 each.

Thanks jdab. I clocked the Estibot values tend to be well out. I tend look at their valuation and divide by 10 = true valuation !

For example I bought computers-laptops.com and roulett.co

Computers-laptops Estibot value is $920. Maybe it would get $92 ?

Roulett.co Esibot value is $4700. Maybe it would get $470 ?

Maybe not I guess. I am new to all this so it's very much a learning curve.

Best,
Paul

No worries brandnow. I am sure you are right - Maybe the value will go up in time. If not the purchase price won't have broken the bank ;)

Paul

Who would use a .co.com ?
Using a .co is already problematic and confusing enough (unless you are in Colombia of course).

Thanks for your input sdsinc.

Okay, so why .CO.COM?

I asked the same question myself because honestly when I first heard about this, it didnโ€™t compute. As you guys (and gals) probably know by now, Iโ€™m a data geek, and it was data that showed me why there is so much opportunity here.

Hereโ€™s the data that led to my โ€œahaโ€ moment:

69 countries in the world have TLDs that end in .CO.SOMETHING

149 countries in the world have TLDs that end in .COM.SOMETHING

7M .CO.UK names registered

If I built my brand on a .CO.HU, .CO.UG, .CO.IL or any of the other 200+ TLDs that use a .CO with a .COM, Iโ€™d want the .CO.COM too. Thatโ€™s exactly what the folks over at the .CO.COM registry are thinking and I can tell you that if any of you have met Paul Goldstone, Ken Hansen, or Gregg McNair (GGG as many of us know him) you know that these guys look to the future and go big.

Let me be clear here. Iโ€™m not waving a flag here saying that Iโ€™m investing like crazy in .CO.COM or that you should too. In many cases I honestly donโ€™t think these names apply to us, they apply to the 69 countries that have TLDs ending in .CO.SOMETHING and the 149 countries that end in .COM.SOMETHING, doing the math that is 218 countriesโ€ฆwhich is a lot of countries.

As you can also imagine many of these names are most-likely getting type-in traffic which means that people in these 218 countries can lock-in built in traffic just by scooping up a premium name for under $50.

Not pertaining to the .co.com topic.

Just a side note on the countries, there seems to be only about ~196 to ~205 countries or slightly more in the entire world (do not be confuse about UN members) :xf.rolleyes:

Where did the 218 came from?

I happen to agree with Morgan and I think that co.com is a pretty good alternative to .com and better than many gtlds. Would you rather have a site on .xyz or co.com? Braden Pollock has developed a handful of his premiums including law.co.com, dui.co.com and attorney.co.com.

However Paul, I honestly don't see the value in the ones you regged.. maybe pharmaceuticals, but that's pretty long. I did get a few one words when they opened it up including.. style, guns, comedy, clean, skiing..

Sorry but with all respect due I think it's bullshit.
It's stupid. It's like saying you have the best of both worlds because you have .co + .com. Nonsense.
If you blindly follow that kind of advice you will lose money, and you will have to 'unlearn' the nonsense before you get back on the right track.

To keep it simple: .co.com is a private subdomain, just like .gb.com, uk.com.

It's not like .co.uk, .com.au, .com.tr, .co.ug and the countless ccTLDs available at the third level (.co.cctld).
It's not a real extension, it's just a private subdomain.

Have you seen any sales ? End user adoption ? Getting traction somewhere ?
Why should anybody invest in .co.com ? Why not gb.com or .uk.com then ?

Just to be clear, you are free to use a .co.com for your business although it's a bad idea (possible typos and unnecessary confusion among your clients). But don't expect that you will be able to resell them.

Have to agree with sdsinc.
It is not a real extension.

Why not someone start a .a.com?
or .my.com
And on and on and on.

Waste your time and money on something you can not control.
Because really, at some point, the owners of .co.com may not make enough money to keep it going.
And poof!
It is GONE, along with everyone who invested time and money.

So you are saying that hand-reg names are all bad? It's a new extension, there's still lot of good names available for this extension.

I got expert.co.com and seek.co.com on the first day of availability. seek.co.com is getting some type-in traffic but I don't think it was worth it. .co.com doesn't look to do any marketing and I didnt see any sale.
