Kiev = (former) Russian transcriptionThanks @Sergiy The domain is actually KIYV.com. I see people spell Kiev while other people use Kyiv and people also use KIYV. What is the correct spelling by the way? Does it have any impact?
Just a misspelling otherwise I would have got a jackpot...LOL... Thanks so much for the insights...Kiev = Russian transcription
Kyiv = Ukrainian transcription
So both are correct... depending whom you ask
Kiyv is a misspelled version of Kyiv.
Amazing how same name get spelled differently across borders... Thanks so much for this valuable info.. Will definitely try to contact them and see how it proceeds..In Ukraine people use 2 languages - russian and ukrainian
most often used city names in English:
Kiev - russian name of city
Kyiv - ukrainian name, for example we have newspaper kyivpost.com
Kiyv is also ok, people will understand
For example my name:
Sergiy - ukrainian variant (french equivalent Serge, italian Sergio)
Sergey - russian variant
in passports you can see also Sergii
