its usually an extension for java applets that contain functions and general all purpose code

but theres nothing stopping someone creating a set of scripts and using the same extention.

unless you show us a bit of the content we can only guess, as has been stated it is ussually an extension in java but programming languages such as asp, php etc can run under any extension as long as they server is configured in such a way

it's for domain availability lookup (whois). What I am wondering is...how I can make it to where it actually works and can be viewed/used when it's visited, such as yourdomain.com/whateverpage. Here is a sample...
