canadian registrars will most likely add tax to your purchase. u s companies usually do not. along with the exchange rate you have to factor the tax in as well. whc.ca for example offers .cas at $9.99cdn but with tax it comes to $11.49cdn. that's $8.49usd almost equal with namesilo at $8.99usd.

At planethoster, if you specify a Canadian address, tax is added. If you specify another country, such as Ireland, the tax is not displayed.

I have not tried whc.ca, but as @cabotower said, tax is also probably added.

This is probably a bug on their site. In this screenshot, they are waiting for payment, although the country is not Canada.
