I'm about to own this name (sent in a signed form of registration per the NIC's request waiting for their response) and wanted to get some input on what it might be worth. Malta.com just sold for a quarter million, and while this name is obviously not of that caliber and Malta isn't exactly the US or UK, they DO have casinos and that recent sale hopefully has shifted some eyes to Malta with $$$ in people's minds. Could this be comparable or even better than the usual 2nd level Casino.ext domain? .mt cannot be registered or else I'd definitely go after that! :)

Well. We havent seen any recent sales of third level casino names yet.

Generally cctld casino/poker names are purchased by end-users who in 70% cases dont belong to that country. This is especially the case with exotic ccTLDs. For eg, .io, .gp etc. They're not gonna run a casino in those countries. But they'd brand it with the ccTLD. (like SMS.ac or Whois.sc).

Now, this 3rd level domain specifically represents a country. Outsiders may not show interest in it. So, I think chances of finding a buyer is less. You'll have to find out some casinos in malta & make them buy!. Good Luck!

this one's not quite up to your poker.in standards!

I really don't think the malta.com sale will trigger a rush of .com.mt stampede - I'm with Smooth - I think you're about to become an expert on casinos in Malta!

at some point in the future they may decide to make the second level available and when that happen the third level holders often get first refusal. casino.mt is a much better proposition.

I think the fact that .com.mt represents a notable country that runs casinos is a reason why speculation on it from a reseller standpoint might actually meet or exceed that of the usual crap .ext. I think that's the difference between Poker.bs going for $3,600 on eBay and Poker.ug going for only $1,500...resellers are starting to realize that country CAN matter in even these lower-end ccTLDs. I can't say I'm expecting a huge sale of this name, but I do believe that while normally 2nd level extensions would be dime a dozen, this one represents a significant country. No offense to Uguanda. :)

this is a great name

.com.mt is the best malta extension as there is no .mt top level domains

search in google

"inurl:.com.mt" you will find loads of sites that use this extension. malta is a popular gambling area as it is close to monaco.
i actually have sent an application for poker.com.mt and expect it to be a great name :)

Good luck with yours

I think everyone should read the Malta TOS. They still havent approved our applications... maybe for a reason (I sent in mine :) ).

We must have legitimate trade business in Malta. Aka domain name must be your initials or your company name.

Blah...I guess we'll see. I should have put my company as Casino Malta or something, heheh.

The .com.mt is reasonably popular here but with local businesses only. There is a reason top keywords are still available. The bureaucracy here is notorious and I find it unlikely the .com.mt nic will allow foreigners to speculate on the extension.

'the prospective Holder is required to declare the right to use the name preceding the SLD of the proposed domain name as a Full Trade Mark or Trade or Business Name in accordance with Maltese Law - e.g. to register "xyz.com.mt" the prospective Holder must declare the right to use the name "xyz" as a Full Trade Mark or Trade or Business Name in accordance with Maltese Law'

Thank you for the perspective of someone that actually lives in Malta...I really appreciate it!

Amazingly enough, they approved the registration just a little bit ago and I just paid for the domain. You'd be surprised about how many extensions have TOS indicating they don't allow speculation on names, don't allow resale, etc., and yet cave in anyways at the sight of $$$ from foreign registrations. .md was like that...I purchased single-letter/number names at Max.md, the .md registry, and in their TOS it clearly stated at the time that they do not allow resale of the names. I missed it at the time of registration, but then wound up finding out when I got a bidder on the name and was trying to close the sale. In the end, I wound up getting Max.md to transfer the ownership of the names. I guess money speaks all languages.

Fact is I wouldn't be surprised if there are already online casinos/poker sites based out of Malta that are prominent. I think Malta was listed as a country prime for basing such a site for various reasons...I'd have to look up again where I found that. Anyways, with my luck, the registry will email me back later taking the domain from me saying "Wait a minute...the company you gave us was Supur.com...we thought we saw "Casino Malta". Sorry you lose registration! We keep your money, ha ha good times!"
