I have downloaded a template from bravenet.com. I really like it and want to use the same template. Can I use this template to develop the site using wordpress?

Also, could anyone please suggest me any other free software to design website ( other than dreamweaver)?

Regards, SBS

Is it a Wordpress Theme? If so, yes, just upload it to your site's theme folder then activate it in your WP control panel.
Free software: I have used Nvu in the past, but I am working entirely with Wordpress these days.

No, Its not wordpress theme. Its just a web template.

Based on your answer I dont think I can use it. So, how can I use this template? Can I open a web template using dreamweaver etc and edit it?

I am thinking either I open this template in a webbuilder software and edit it or use the images/colors that come with template and build one myself. What would be eassy way out?

if it's not a wordpress theme, then you need to edit your layout to make it Wordpress-ready. If you're new to this (as it seems) it could be a really difficult task, but if you feel confident with php you may give it a try, or you just can download one of thousands of free wordpress ready templates

Hi sbs.
In reply to your post & PM, I'm not sure I know enough myself to give you the best advice. What kind of site is it that you want to put up? What do you need it to do?
Give us some more detail and if I can't help you I'm sure someone else can...
As far as Wordpress goes, it is very flexible, with a bit of practice it is fairly easy to edit the themes (templates). But you wouldn't build a corporate banking site with it, for example.
As I said, let us know more about what you want to do and I'm sure you will get some answers.

Template I am trying to use is #5 in the first row at this link (neoneon) http://www.bravenet.com/webtools/template/
or partially visible at http://misssmartypantssite.com/ ( not my site, I googled it)

Basically I want to build a KIDS site. It will have basic articles, few pictures etc. I want menu on left hand side ( like in above template) which list my categories and popular articles, tag cloud etc. On right side I want to include a box with google adsense or affiliate ads. ( havent thought about ad placing yet). And ofcourse each individual page will have adsense ads and some affiliate links.

I have no reservation and can use any template which is cool and kids oriented. Please suggest me what are best options for me. Any theme auggestions?

You can do all that with Wordpress.
That template actually looks like a Wordpress theme.
There are WP themes of all kinds, have a look around at http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
Good luck!

eFingerz; I think its better if I just pick ready to go adsense-ready theme. I will then see if I can able to change the positions of the ads of insert more ads.
