Buying a domain on Afternic Payment method

Just purchased a domain on Afternic can I pay using my credit card on the escrow summary gives the payment option to pay via credit card.

But looking at the help section has this

Can I pay for a domain by credit card?

Although we do accept credit cards for membership fees and other services, we cannot accept credit cards for domain name purchases. The reason for this policy is that credit card payments can be reversed by the payer long after the exchange has already sent net funds to the seller. Because our service guarantees payments to sellers, we cannot accept payments from buyers that can be too easily reversed.

No you cannot use a credit card for the reason stated.

From Afternic site:

"We currently offer these methods for buyers to pay for a domain name:

• any kind of check (business, personal, US, non-US)

• money order

• wire transfer (US or non-US)

• PayPal (eChecks)

Wire transfers, cashier's checks, and money orders are much faster than checks because we have to hold the funds - and the sellers must hold the domains - until checks clear."

I bought a name on Afternic a few weeks ago and paid with credit card...

On the escrow summary it gives the option with a $40 charge

Just called afternic and sent a email I'll see what they say as why they give the option if your not allowed to use it

They probably just take the hit in those cases. I suppose if you collect enough 4% fees it would pay for itself
