Buy traffic or Try AdWords? Need your opinion

I want to buy traffic from one of my sites. But I keep running into people who say they really had no luck with this type of marketing. Has anyone had a good experience buying traffic? Would my money be better spent on a trial Goggle AdWords campaign? Need opinions. Thanks!

its a waste, use adwords, overture, adhearus, fastclick are your best bet.
(Caution findwhat.com uses mostly fake clicks from my exprences and tests)

The traffic selling sites, (20000 hits for $30 type stuff) all seem to be scams, just ask them for some examples of where the traffic comes from-I'll bet they'll avoid that question. It is just fake traffic sent through proxies or real surfers who have been bombed with piles of popups (one will be your site). The best choice is major ppcs like google and overture.

Did you try buying traffic? If so, would be nice to hear some results.

It really depends on the nature of the site. If your site has a very targeted niche market then buying bulk popup or popunder traffic is a bad idea for sure.

I have had some success with buying builk traffic for my online gaming website. You need to be careful where you buy the traffic from though.

If not, just go for adsense.

Most traffic you buy is trash its bullcrapola, and wont convert much if any at all for you, there are alot of other ways to get traffic to your website/domains that are real permanent solutions.and that traffic will generally convert.

Stay away from anything that is too good to be true. Thats my advice for you.
30.000 visitors for $30. Ask these guys why don't they buy from them selfs !!

You are considering adwords which is another form of ppc advertising. Its good but you need to setup a budget plan before you start.

Have to agree there.. and the traffic rotator sites can be pretty useless too, unless they require manual clicking.

You money is probably better spent on advertising on Overture and Google. Go after the low cost keywords that are seldom used by your competitors. It's better to spend .05 to .10/click than .50/click, of course.

Great consensus

You have a lot of experienced people giving you a strong consensus of opinion.

I would only add that you can be very selective in AdWords by having a strong focus on using 'negative options'.

For example, if we want people to come to our Wisconsin portal www.theBubbler.com, we might pay for the adwords "Wisconsin Baseball" but definitely NOT pay for any terms that contain the word "Brewers" because, though we have a number of links to Milwaukee Brewers Baseball sites, I don't want to pay for traffic that ultimately wants to go to their site.

Regards,
Keith

Adwords is probably your best bet, but you need to bid at least $0.05 a click. If your keywords are in high demand, you may not get many clicks at a $0.05 bid. Since I have limited budget to promote my sites, I use a number of smaller PPC programs that offer lower minimum bids. GoClick, for example, starts at $0.01 a click. The drawback of using a smaller PPC company is that you won't get much traffic from them, so you'll have to use several at the same time. For a review of PPC companies, visit my page at:

Oh, don't fall for the "10,000 visitors of $9.95" scams. They're a complete waste of time. I signed for one of these deals and received maybe 50 hits in two months, and as it turned out, most of them were from outside the US.

The other problem with smaller PPC companies is that it's easier for them to scam you (Less oversight).
Adwords is the way to go, but you need to be creative since it is a minimum of .05 a click that you bid. (Mispell words, be very targeted)

PPC sites will only bring you traffic numbers,Google adwords can get expensive,Best if you research adwords before submitting a campain with adwords.Words like money are a 1.50 a click min. Link exchanges are a good way to not only generate more traffic,But give you better search engine rankings aswell.I would stay clear of those PPC sites and such,Traffic numbers yes,Sells no. Just my opinion

"Money" is not $1.50 minimum on Adwords, as I use it as a "phishing" keyword at .05 a click for some of my sites. If you wanted to use "new directtv system" or something similar, then you could get higher minimums "required".
You can always tweak the keywords to get impressions at .05 (And presumably clicks if your ad is good).
I'm one of the few still using the "GoogleCash" method with Adwords, I think, but I wouldn't give it up for the world at this point! (Ok, maybe the world, I've always wanted to be King).

I couldn't get any traffic from google unless spending .30 to $1/click. I stopped after spending $50. What a waste....$50 for less than 100 clicks.

I could have had 3,000 to 5,000 Np$ for that and turned it into thousands of clicks and advertising and links.

I think spending too much on google is a rookie mistake. I learned my lesson.
