What is the best, most popular way to add a shopping cart to a web store?

I am thinking of starting a handmade jewellery website and I have no idea how to accept payments.

I have heard of Shopify, Paypal and others...which is the best way to set up a webstore for a small business.

I've used, and loved, Snipcart: https://snipcart.com

It's practically free, easy to use and, simple to install. You pay them 2.9% of sales or a minimum 10$ monthly fee.

Shopify is very easy to use and configure, very similar to wordpress. Downside is that for functionality other than the basics, you either write it yourself or you pay a monthly subscription fee for an app that does it. Those $1/month apps add up!
