In regards to snoop findings yes it looks small. But the more .tv awareness comes out and projects that number will be a joke in 5 years from now on.
Last week I picked up a pile of old magazines to burn in my furnace. One of these was the Fall 97 issue of Pacific Horticulturalist. Out of more than 100 display and classified ads only 1 had a web address. It was the "Bay Area Gardeners Association". Tiny ad, 1/8 page. Their domain? Gardens.com. Go figure.
My point is that the "market share" for domains/websites back then was under 1%. Most businesses didnt use them and didnt feel a need to use them. Nowadays the ratio is reversed. Probbaly only 1% of all business that advertise DONT use some form of internet communication.
I imagine there were plenty of "snoop-like" individuals around back then informing business owners that they didnt need to pay any attention to this internet thing. "Just a fad". "A money pit". I bet some of them were well thought of and were very well paid for their consultations. I wonder what they are doing now?
Hows that for obfuscation, snoop? Was it enough paragraphs for ya?
Actually I do appreciate you, snoop. You do make good points time to time. Very good points. You're a sharp fellow. But what I really like the best is, and I'm being perfectly honest here, your admonitions must be helping to keep the enthusiasm and therefore the price of .tv's down. And I REALLY like that! Keep up the good work my friend. It doesn't matter so much here becasue you likely wont find a more enthusiastic bunch of .TVrs on earth but I suppose you talk the same talk in other places. At least I hope you do.
Snoop's mostly right thought that this TLD can be a speculative nightmare. Especially premium priced names. I will never buy another one of those without a definite plan to use in a short time. IMO the way Verisign has and continues to handle the premium is the #1 factor depressing the market for .TV. It creates a vast amount of undue confusion in the minds of seasoned investors/speculators and novice end users alike. And just when you thought it couldnt get any worse their sheer idiocy of recent months is stunning.
But if snoops final analysis is that .tv are worthless domains to own and use then I think he's dead wrong. Only time will tell which of us is right about this. I'm sure most anyone buying names now with an eye to a quickflip is likely to be disappointed. This is a buy and hold TLD. You might have to hold for 2, 3, 4 years or more before you manage to see a decent profit. Something to keep in mind. Longtail .coms are probable your best bet for easy money.
