Anyone know of any cheap/free content management system? I've heard only of zope, but I guess you have to be a genius programmer to use it.

I would recommend Wordpress. It's a blogging software, but it is a CMS.

As mentioned by previous posters, many free CMS exist. I think you'll just need to evaluate reviews based on their respective learning curves and also how many sites you wish to create (and how often you plan to manage them). In other words, the most expensive part of a CMS is you (user's time).

Try them out. ;)

My vote goes to either Drupal or Joomla. I've been very impressed with the both of them, but I'm really starting to lean towards Drupal as 5.x is solid.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll try Joomla. I've been hearing good things about it, and it has many 3rd party plugins & addons. Also, I'm not sure you need too much programming background for this one. I think Drupal is for more experienced coders.

Check out Plone - it's built on top of Zope but is considerably easier to use.

There is a lot of free stuff in that list. I couldn't see blogger in the blogs section there. I think it is also free. Is not it?

I definately recommend joomla and wordpress. Also make sure you turn on the cache so that your site takes up less resources on your host.

Could you explain me what that means? I really don't understand. Has it something to do with SEO? And do you mean Joomla or Wordpress?

Ok, it's all about DRUPAL! Countless professional sites have apparently been made with it (like mtv.com). It seems to be the most stable and the most professional free CMS around.

I only wander about the learning curve...

check out www.cmsmatrix.org for a comprehensive comparison of almost ALL CMS that are available.

I've used it countless times, it's free, nothing to register for, just a downright handy and useful tool.

I would recommend you PHP-Nuke or Joomla. PHP-Nuke has lots of portal features and joomla is very secure.

There are lots of decent templates available for the both systems, so you'd do fine in terms of site design as well.

Perfect, though there might be a lag time in learning howto.

Wordpress is the simplest to get started with.
