I currently own ApprenticeFans.com and ApprenticeForum.com.

However, I seem to be running into trouble selling them. Each was appraised here in a range from high $XX to mid-$XXX *UNDEVELOPED.* I've already gotten over 230 "inLive" users on the developed ApprenticeForum.com, yet cannot seem to get any offers, let alone sales.

With all the hype the show gets, let alone proven & visible stats, plus an Alexa ranking after a few days of near 200,000, why is it so hard to get upper-XXX to low-XXXX for this premium domain?

People usually spend big on domains to make money. I don't see much revenue comming in from any of the 2 projects your have unless you have major traffic with some major ad campaigns going on.

main reason why is because people dont want to buy a site that will die when show dies, which will be soon

With the temporary nature of television shows, I would be looking for a lower priced "quick sale" rather then trying to hold out for the perfect buyer at an ideal price.

Anyone buying the name would be taking a gamble that the show is going to be around longer than just the next season. Hopefully it will because it's an awesome show, but with the domains, someone with $xxxx to invest is more likely to be seeking something with a better guarantee for the long term.

The show has been just about confirmed for *THREE* more seasons; 100% confirmed for two more Apprentice seasons, and one more spin-off.

And, to answer .edu, firstly they were appraised at mid XXX completely undeveloped and unindexed - thus, people felt they were valuable without guaranteed money. The site's already been advertised and gets hits - like I said, the forum has a "most users online" of 230; something most long-established boards only dream of.

While you've put up a working board, these stats show that it really hasn't taken off yet:

Our members have made a total of 66 posts
We have 15 registered members

By "developed", we usually mean something that's really active with several thousand real (not useless) posts, and perhaps a few hundred members. So at this point any "inlive" stats you are getting are just type-ins, not really people interested in browsing the board.

Therefore, at this point any offers will probably still be somewhere around the undeveloped price estimates we gave you.

I would tend to disagree.

Firstly, I'm not selling the developed site - I'm selling a domain with traffic. There's a difference. If I was selling one of my developed sites, it'd be in the five-figure range minimum.

Secondly, if the hits are there, then you could potentially blame the lack of registrations on bad management. I'm doing my job to get the hits there, meaning the domain *IS* active. Since I'm selling the domain and it's active, it should have value.

And, again, the undeveloped estimates were as high as mid-XXX. I haven't received one offer period.

Looking back at your appraisal thread http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27537

... I see that seven said high $XX, and only one said $XXX. So if you wanted a quick sale on this forum, then you would have to offer your site for less than high $XX, perhaps mid-$XX.

If you can wait for the right buyer to come along, or take the effort to find one, then you may get the mid-$XXX you're hoping for.

I haven't received one offer period.

but from http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28468 :
And, I've gotten a few offers, but make sure to put your offers in.

Which is it?

its a matter of a waiting game really - you get some good times and some bad times.

you could wait months and then get someone who feels they can market this easy and may want to spend $XXX in getting it off you. But there are also times when you can just snap up a domain cheap - develop it and someone could want it off you instantly.

Its all a gamble.

Good Luck with getting a buyer.
Mike.
