Hi guys,
I am trying to insert code for adsense on my site, however when I put the code in on the page it remains as code and doesn't show up as an adsense link/ad. Does anyone know why this is? Thank you :)

It sounds to me you're inserting the code on the viewable part of the page itself, instead of in the HTML part of the page.

Ahh, I see. I don't know how to access the HTML page though!

I'm not a Joomla user, but there must be a button or link for you to view the HTML code of your page. That's where you need to insert the adsense code.

I can only access the read only part in viewing the page source, therefore I cannot edit any of the code. I have searched Joomla for any buttons/links and I can't find any for HTML, however in their help section it does say there is an HTML editor.
Regards

You are prolly going to have to directly insert the adsense code in to the template itself. Not recommended you do it yourself if you dont know what you are doing.

I know this is a late response ,but will be useful for anyone trying to add adsense code to Joomla! or indeed any Javascripted CODE fragments to Joomla!

1/ No need to use any addons
(So no download hassles)
2/ No need to use legacy mambot in joomla! 1.5x
(No Compatibilty Problems)
3/ Especially no need to directly edit the template
(YUK , Defeats Purpose of using CMS)

The solution is as simple as turning off in the Global configuration Section
the tinyMCE editor choice (or in joomla1.55 and later JCE editor)
then goto Module Manager
create a new "custom HTML" module
Copy the supplied Adsense "HTML Code"
Fill in desired Title & position and other fields
Save
then turn back on the tinyMCE editor

The editor has Malicious Script Removal
and will KILL any Javascript that is entered unless turned off
This Solution works for
Joomla! 1.0x (and Mambo)
Joomla! 1.5x
Nooku

BTW Joomla! does have a HTML editor Builtin
When using tinyMCE it has a little icon on toolbar html
When NOT using TinyMCE just enter html freely into text box
