Because for hundreds of dollars, you still can't make other resellers for less than $8.95. Might as well have a $7.95 account for $20 or less. Is 80 cent price difference worth it unless you are going to register hundreds of domains at once?

Oh, I didn't think about it that way. So too much of an overhead for little to no benefit. Oh well...
