Wow! I matched two numbers; one white and one red. Total winning $12. Invested $40.

I would sooner amputate my foot than stand in a line like this for a powerball ticket.

A line like this would take HOURS to process.

I picked up 5 tickets today, and it took a total of 5 minutes... and that was 5 minutes too long - the line was four people deep. Then again, there are about 15+ places to buy powerball tickets within a mile radius.

This place looks like the only shop in the mountains of CA.

Interesting fact... Since this jackpot started on Nov. 7, 1.325 billion tickets have been sold... and not a single winner. Yet.

For the drawing tonight: 85.8% percent of all Powerball ticket combinations have been sold thus far... which means there still is a 15% chance there be no winner for tonights drawing. How crazy would that be...

They have all of this data "Real Time", run on central computers etc... How is the United States Lottery run better than the United States voting system? What a mess...

1.5 Billion lottery, would net you, if you take the lump sum (and you should).
About 930 Million dollars before taxes.
Depending on what state, and where in the state, you live....50% of that would be taken out for taxes (give or take).
But still....
To get about 470 million dollars would be okay by me!

I'm certain that the winner won't complain about the taxes but here's something to ponder.

Is gambling income something you earn or is it luck? If it's the latter then why does the government get a cut? They've found a way to win every single lottery without ever buying a ticket! And the money used to buy tickets, yeah they've already taxed that too.

I'd like to see a day when taxes are only paid on actual wages. If you risk your own taxed income on gambling and are lucky enough to win, the money should be all yours!
